As you know, I am focusing on building my email list, so I am testing new methods to get more traffic to my website. Yes, I have been using blog commenting as one of my methods of driving traffic to my website, but have you ever thought about using free WSO’s to build your email list?
I wanted to share with you how I am using free WSO’s to build my email list. Now before you begin using this strategy, you need to realize that running a WSO is going to cost you $40.
I have personally found that it is worth it, especially since it is allowing me to build my email list quickly without having to sit down and write a bunch of content on my own site.
Sure you can use Facebook ads or Google Adwords to build your list. But I really don’t know that much about those two methods.
It is always good to have several different methods that will help you drive traffic to your website. After all it does not matter what niche you are in, if you don’t have traffic to your site, you can pretty much forget it.
Before My First Free WSO
Check out what my campaign looked like before my free WSO.
Steps To Set Up Your WSO
First of all you will want to become a member with the Warrior Forum. I believe that you have to be a member of the War Room and have at least 30 comments in the forum before you can begin posting WSO’s.
If you don’t already have your 30 comments, then you can quickly head over to the forum and begin commenting on some of the threads. Be sure that you leave valuable comments as you will be using the forum to help build your brand.
Once you have your comments and have become a paid member of the forum, you can then head over to the forum and go to Warrior Special Offers section. You will want to create a new thread.
For your Free WSO, it doesn’t have to be a lot to get it up and running. My free WSO only took me 20 minutes to write up.
What To Give Away For Your Free WSO?
Deciding what to give away is not that difficult. You can easily create an ebook that talks about what you are doing to generate traffic to your site. You will be surprised at how many people will sign up for your free ebook. The point is to create a good freebie to give away.
I personally created an ebook that talks about the strategies that I am using to get traffic to my site. I did not use any PLR for the content, I sat down and wrote it out by myself.
Setting Up A Squeeze Page
Next you will want to set up a squeeze page that will have people opt in to your email list. I also suggest that you offer a product of your own or an affiliate product right after they submit their email.
This will help you recoup the money that you spend on the WSO. You can quickly set up your own product that is related to what you are offering by creating another product or re-branding some PLR.
Don’t let it stop you if you don’t have your own product to give away. You can easily sign up for some affiliate programs and find something that is related to what you are offering for your free WSO.
Stick that affiliate link on your auto-responder and they will be taken to that page after they submit their email address.
If it is a good offer, you should be able to make back your investment from the free WSO.
What To Do With Your Freebie Seekers
Now many people will tell you that getting a bunch of freebie seekers can be a bad thing. However, if you plan on building a relationship with your email list it is not always a bad thing.
Start giving them some value, but don’t be afraid to offer them some products to purchase. You are trying to build a business with people who purchase your products or recommendations if you are using affiliate links.
Sure you will get some unsubscribes that is normal. But it does not matter, if they unsubscribe you have to look at it as they would never of bought your products in the first place.
Keep providing value and sticking in your products and affiliate links (or both).
As you continue to provide them with the valuable information, some of them will begin to trust you and they will eventually purchase.
Don’t Take The Unsubscribes Personally
One thing you have to remember is that you will get some unsubscribes. Remember these people opted into your email list, but they got something of value for free.
These people are wanting to get started online or have gotten started online, but don’t want to invest in their business.
You want to provide value in helping them, but you also want to focus on helping the people who want to help themselves as well.
Don’t sweat it when someone unsubscribes. You know deep down that you are providing value and if they unsubscribe, so be it.
The reason I am telling you not to take it personally is because I did. When I started using this method, I was upset whenever someone unsubscribed.
No I don’t bombard them with promotional offer after promotional offer. But I have started selling to my list now.
Now I just have to work on the open rates for my emails, but that is a different story.
Stats From My First WSO
Now take a look at the same campaign after my first WSO run. This is an image from my Getresponse account right after the WSO fell off the front page.
Now more people ended up downloading the ebook;
I got a total of 54 Getresponse notification emails, but some of those people subscribed and downloaded the ebook and then unsubscribed from the email list.
I guess you have to take that into consideration as well.
So 43 opt-ins from the first page of running a WSO is not too bad? It all happened in 24 hours, since that is about how long it took my WSO to fall off the front page.
I also ended up making 2 affiliate sales in 24 hours from being on the front page.
