I just wanted to share, yesterday, I finally got my first email list affiliate sale. Yes, right now I am promoting some affiliate products to my list. I am still working on my own product right now.
If you have been following my blog for a while, then you know that I just started my email list about 3 weeks ago. I have tried in the past, but never really had much success with it.
I have gotten a mentor this time around, because I plan to have a strategy that I can use to grow my online business.
Now I am not saying that I am an expert by no means, I am learning as I go. I am sharing with you what I learn in hopes of being able to help you grow your email list and succeed online.
I truly believe that if we work hard towards our goals, we will eventually reach our goals.
We have all heard so many people say that the money is in the list, yet so many of us avoid building a list. Why well I can only tell you why it took me so long to put an opt-in box on my site.
Why I Waited To Start My Email List
I personally started my internet marketing journey back in 2009, I just read blogs about internet marketing trying to find out as much as I could. I actually did not set up my first site until 2010.
At the time I was very new and did not know anything. So I figured why would I build my list? I wouldn’t know how to use it or what type of information to send.
Don’t make the same mistake that I made. I have just started building my email list and it is something that I wish I would’ve done sooner. I guess we all just learn at different stages in life.
What Do I Offer My Email List?
If you have a site online and are working hard towards your goals, you have a lot to offer your readers. You may not think that you do, but you do.
Share what you are doing. There are so many people who want to get started online and most of them have no clue how to get started. If you just share what you are doing and then every now and then you offer a quality affiliate offer or your own product then you will make sales.
Of course promoting your own products is always better. But you don’t have to let that stop you from building your email list.
Eventually as you list continues to grow, you can always create your own product and offer that to your list.
I Don’t Have A Big List
My mentor has told me that you don’t have to have a big list to begin sending them emails. In fact as soon as you begin building your email list, you need to start emailing them.
If you let your email list sit stagnant without you sending any emails, they will forget who you are. Then when you try to begin emailing them they will unsubscribe because they have forgotten who you are.
I personally only have 59 people on one of my lists, this is the list that I made the sale from.
I am still working on growing this list, but is a slow process. But as you can see, I am not one of these marketers who has a huge list. In fact, I am also just learning about segmenting my email list.
I have been testing using broadcasts and setting up auto-responders. I do have some auto-responders set up on my campaigns. However, from my own personal experience I have found that the open rates are terrible.
The broadcasts or as Getresponse calls them Newsletters work best.
I set one up to go out in the mornings the day that I want to send one out. The open rates are still not that great (but a lot better than the auto-responders), I am working on improving my titles to get better CTR.
Yes you can set the emails up in advance and schedule them to go out on a certain date and time as well. This can be great, especially if you don’t have the time to write an email everyday.
I feel that as I continue to send out the newsletters, I will get better at writing catchy titles, and that will improve my CTR.
So what is my point in all of this? I hope that you realize that I am still learning all about email marketing. I have personally realized that sending out newsletters works the best.
No email marketing is not a set up auto-responders and forget about it. You still need to take the time to write personal emails and build that relationship with your list.
I have been learning quite a bit and it seems like everything that you do is built around building up those relationships with your readers and subscribers.
Time To Share
