Today, I will be discussing the day 5 of blogging with John Chow blogging program. Now you may be wondering what happened with day 4 as yesterday I wrote the day 3 of the program and it consisted of how to install wordpress. Well day 4 is just a combination of day 3, which consists of installing different themes you can use on your site as well as plugins. I decided not to go into complete details on this, as everyone likes to install different types of plugins and themes that help their sites rank in the search engines. I did however, cover some of the themes and plugins you should use on your blog in my first post of the program.
Time To Start Blogging
By now you should have an idea of what you want to write about. Do you want to talk about your online progress and detail each and every little thing you do to help you stay motivated towards your online goal? (that is exactly what I am doing on this site) You might think that you don’t have anything to share because you have not earned a lot of money online. Even if you have only earned $100 online, there are people who want to read your story about how you made it to that level of income. They would also love to know what you are doing to make it to the next level.
Making money online can be a challenge and most people who get started, tend to think that it is going to be easy. I know this because when I started my entrepreneurial journey, I was blinded by what it really took to make an income online. Now I realize that it is possible, but it takes a lot more than just setting up a WordPress site hoping that people will find it. You have to be willing to build a business and a brand yourself online.
Regardless of what you choose to blog about, you should have already set up a personal blog that will detail what you are doing online. This will help you build a following and will get people to trust you. We all need to realize that people do not buy from blogs or websites online because you have what they want. (while some do) Most people will buy from people that they like and trust.
As you begin your blogging journey and start blogging about what you are doing, you will be gaining a following. (especially if you continue to promote your blog and do what it takes to keep it updated) As people keep coming back to visit your site to stay informed about what you are doing, they will eventually begin to trust you.
How To Build Trust With Your Readers
One of the most important things to remember when you start blogging is to avoid lying about your online journey. If you have not made a lot of money, then do not try to make yourself look good by lying about your online income. Your story has to stay consistent, if people realize that you are lying, they will not gain the trust and will most likely leave your site and will not return.
Don’t be shy about your income results. We all have to start somewhere and sometimes is takes many of us longer than others to realize that we need to start focusing on building a business. Many of us get started online because we visit forums like the Warrior Forum and there are so many different types of programs online that promise to teach you how to make money quickly and easily. So we buy one of them and then begin setting up niche site after niche site hoping that it makes us money.
While those sites can make us money, from my personal experience is that money can quickly diminish. I once had over 20 niche sites set up and now most of them do not make me a single penny anymore.
That is the main reason that I have decided to ditch that method and start focusing on creating my own products. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not against affiliate marketing, but at one point if we really want to become known online, we are going to have to start creating our own products.
How Well – Known Will I Become
With so many bloggers online, most of us that set up a blog will not become well known, so don’t think that you will become the next John Chow. However, if you start blogging and keep doing what it takes to build your community, you can gain a great following. As you begin to build your following you want to ensure that you continue to build your relationship with them by adding great value to your blog.
Another important thing that will help you build your community and your following is to respond to all the comments that you receive on your blog. If people feel that they are being ignored if they ask a question or make a comment, they will stop leaving comments or interacting with you on your site.
If people feel that you are sharing what you are doing and they can learn how to implement what you teach them into their business, then they will continue to follow your site. This is what we all want, repeat visitors, as these are the best ones that we can begin to market our products or affiliate products to.
However, most people who visit a blog are looking for information, they are not looking to purchase anything. I know that when I visit a site online, it is because I want to know how to do something. I most likely will not purchase anything from that particular site, especially on my first visit.
If you site provides them with the information that they are looking for, they will bookmark it and come back later. (this is what I do) Take a look at what you search for online and how you use the sites that you find that provide you with the information you are looking for. Your searching habits are not that different from other people who are searching for information online.
Your job as a blogger is to provide people with valuable information. Ask yourself would you bookmark your own site if you found it. Does it provide the person who is looking for information the tips and advice that they need? If you are blogging about your online journey, are you sharing enough tips with your audience that if they wanted to follow you, they could implement their own products.
Now I am not talking about giving away the farm, otherwise you will never be able to create your own products and sell them, since all your information is on your site. However, if you share things like how to install a WordPress site, or how to do keyword research or other valuable tips like that. Some people do not know how to do those types of things.
Let me know what you are sharing with your readers. Are you writing about your online journey and what you are doing to create an online income. Maybe I forgot to include something that could be shared with our readers online, share your comments below and let me know what you think.
